The Seat at the Table Toolkit is a groundbreaking resource for Black women considering running for municipal elections. The toolkit recognizes the unique challenges faced by Black women in navigating the political process and addresses the systemic barriers that can prevent them from running for elected office. By equipping Black women with the necessary tools and knowledge, the toolkit aims to level the playing field and encourage more Black women to consider running for public office. It is designed to provide essential guidance and support to potential candidates, ensuring that their voices are heard and represented in the decision-making process.
Operation Black Vote Canada’s toolkit has been made possible through OBVC’s leadership, the financial support from the Federation of Canadian Municipality’s Canadian Women in Local Leadership Program, and through the research and technical assistance by SEASONOVA, a BIPOC-led social enterprise based in Ottawa.
