There are many political parties in Canada. Over a dozen of them are registered at the Federal level and represent regions across Canada.
There are also parties which register in only one province to represent that particular region or an interest group. Below are the main parties which are registered at the Federal and Provincial levels.
Major Federal parties include:
- Bloc Québécois
- Conservative Party of Canada (PC)
- Green Party of Canada
- Liberal Party of Canada
- New Democratic Party (NDP)
The full list of federal parties can be viewed on Election Canada’s website.
Major Provincial parties:
With the exception of Quebec, all major parties in the provinces are a provincial extension of the Liberal, Conservative, New Democratic, and Green Parties. The ruling party in Quebec is the Coalition Avenir Québec.
